This is the Tamiya Jagdtiger in 1/35 scale. It was released at the end of 2008 in time for Tamiya's 40th anniversary. It is a completely new tooling and is up the standards we have come to expect from them. Molded in the usual mustard colored styrene the kit was virtually flash free. Engineering and overall fit make the built relatively straight forward.
In the box with the kit is a sheet of color photo of the Jagdtiger at Aberdeen which made me assume that was at least one of their sources for research. The edges of the armor plate in the kit are very clean and the weld joints very neat. The photos show all plate edges have torch cut marks and the welds are not so neat. There are a couple of things that I fix during the build.
Additions to the kit are a Voyager multi-media detail set and photo etch schurtzen. The vinyl tracks were replaced with Friulmodel metal tracks
